Benefits Teacher In-service days

We just finished teacher in-service days and you might be saying , "glad we got past those" or maybe you were able to plan a much deserved family vacation.  We know that the days that we close might cause some frustration and aggravation.  In an ideal work situation you would be able to take the time off; you or your spouse, but most of the time that is not possible.  Then you are scrambling to find some one to care for your child or children for all or part of the days.  And our wonderful teachers that you use as babysitters aren't available because they are working.

So why do we have this 'dreaded days', what is your benefit.  Let me tell you:

During these days we have staff meetings, trainings so we stay up to date on new education philosophies and trainings that give us fresh and new ideas.

We use in-service times to rotate toys and rearrange the classrooms.  This gives the children new places to explore and experiment with.

Although everything gets cleaned on a regular basis, we are able to do a deep cleaning of everything.

During in-service days teacher work together as a team.  They create lesson plans together, help each other with classroom layouts and bounce ideas off of each other.  Teachers form bonds during these days which creates a cohesive staff.

So when the next days come up in Aug. to get ready for the Fall, remind yourself of the benefits your child will be getting from these days:
A clean and stimulating environment with knowagble teachers who are full of ideas and ready to embrace them with your children when they come back to school.
